Navigating the start of a career can be extremely overwhelming, but hopefully as a mentor, I will be able to give someone a better head start than what I started out with. Only entering my senior year, there is a lot for me to learn about the professional financial world as well; however, teaching is the best method of learning, and I also look forward to forming a lasting connection with my mentee!

I had an internship working with a financial advisor, but I learned more people skills than finance skills in that role--I also learned that it was not an area that I would ever be interested in working full-time. The other internship I held was being a finance intern at Experian--definitely a better fit for me! There, working in a large corporate, I was able to learn a lot more technical, especially Excel, and financial skills.
Outside of trying to navigate my career during this tremulous time, I have found myself diving into a deep ocean of anime, YouTube videos, and Netflix shows, browsing through Reddit until I've scrolled across every post at least twice, and spending way too money on DoorDash (I live to eat!). "

Year: 4th
Major: Business Administration
Emphases: Finance, Health Care Management, and Organization & Management
Industry of Interest: Finance
Hi! As a fourth year business admin student, I have had the pleasure of getting involved with amazing campus organizations and meeting many life-long friends and mentors. Not too long ago I was navigating which fields of finance I wanted to explore, and I would love to help eager students navigate their own paths. I hope my mentee will absorb information, build friendships, and find a support system in myself and the other mentors. I have had a few internships in corporate finance including Northrop Grumman and Johnson & Johnson, which were project-based roles such as supporting autonomous planes or R&D for medical devices. My more recent experiences in financial services include working for a fund-of-fund, Pathway Capital Management, and as an IB Summer Analyst at JPM where I got to work on a few live deals. Outside of work and school, I love trying different coffees, hiking at National Parks, painting, playing tennis, and traveling! "

As a freshman, I joined UFA looking for a community to help me learn and grow my knowledge about the industry of finance. Throughout the years, I continued to stay involved, eventually becoming the Executive Vice President in my junior year. Now, as a senior, I want to give back to the finance community at UCI by mentoring anyone interested in joining the club! I hope that my mentee develops their skills and abilities enough to allow them to succeed in any area of finance that they decide to pursue in the future. Some of my previous work experiences include working as a corporate accounting intern at a tech company and a financial analyst intern at a medical device company. A few of my hobbies include playing/watching sports, video games, and traveling to new places! "

Year: 3rd
Major: Business Administration
Emphases: Finance and Accounting
Industry of Interest: Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, REPE
I wanted to become a mentor because Merage has given me so many resources to grow and learn, and I knew I wanted to give back to someone that might find my experiences insightful. I hope my mentee is able to absorb my knowledge within the finance world as it can be foggy at times--this was something I had wanted as a first-year, and I'm glad to see it has become a reality. I've had experience interning in wealth management, investment banking, corporate finance, and at a macro fund, and I also have a solid understanding of the various careers out there. I love to hike, re-watch movies and TV shows, and play video games. Always interested in learning new hobbies, so open to anything! "

Hello! My name's Ryan and I'm a 4th year Business Administration student with emphases in Finance and Information Systems.

Throughout my career at UCI, I have had countless mentors that helped me develop both personally and professionally - I hope my mentee can hear from all I have to say and pass it on to others! Most of my experiences are within the field of finance, this past summer I interned at Johnson & Johnson as a Finance Intern and last summer at Ingram Micro as a Corporate Finance Intern. However, I am currently working as a Junior Consultant at Redhill Business Analytics and a Merage Peer Career Advisor (MPCA) on campus!

Besides school and work, I love working out, traveling to new places, and am a HUGE Disney guru! I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you! "

HELLO! My name is Valorie Low and I'm an incoming 3rd year Business Admin and Economics double major here at UCI :) Going through college is hard enough, and trying to navigate the finance industry at the same time doesn't make it any easier- so hopefully as a mentor, I can help with that! In the past, I've worked for and attended programs for a variety of different firms including KLK Capital Management, The Interlink Group, Nomura, Stout, Actuarial Management Corporation, and will be joining Credit Suisse as an S&T Analyst Intern next summer! But beyond all things professional, I'm a HUGE foodie and love exploring new spots around SoCal (if you haven't been to this place called CocoCane...GO). And after a day of feasting, I love balancing it out with some exercise! I love all types of sports (running, hiking, bball), and dance on a few UCI hip hop teams too. Although the upcoming school year may be online, I'm looking forward to making more memories and most excitingly, being a UFA Mentor! "

Year: 4th
Major: Mathematics and Quantitative Economics
Emphasis: Finance
Industry of Interest: Corporate Banking and Investment Research
I chose to be a mentor because I wanted to give back to the UCI finance community. I have had many mentors throughout college, and they have been the key factor for my professional and personal development. I am hoping that my mentee can grow a better understanding of the financial services industry, as well as figure out their career path. I was the portfolio analyst intern at Wells Fargo Advisors last year conducting investment analysis on stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. Over the summer I was a specialty banking summer analyst at City National Bank. I worked under the Aerospace, Defense & Government team focusing on corporate credit products such as term loans/ABL/revolvers/treasury/FX/swaps. In my free time, I enjoy reading books and watching sports. "
